Impeach Blair Letter:
Liberals and left wingers everywhere must now realise that UK Labour voters unwittingly supported a crypto-fascist leader of a craven, corrupt and hand-picked parliamentary party. Since 1997, Blair’s government repeatedly undermined the social institutions of the welfare state introduced by its predecessors. It joined the USA in bombing Iraq from 1998, eventually invading bloodily in 2003, while blatantly lying over the issue to the electorate, intimidating media critics and corrupting the judicial system to hide their crimes. To give an illusion of prosperity, it reigned over a horrific and unsustainable expansion of credit, a hidden printing of money that will make “prudence” seem as as Micawberesque as the Weimar Republic. Even Roy Hattersley, hardly a loony leftie has abandoned New Labour on the grounds it is no longer concerned with the essential equalities necessary to any center-left party in a democracy.US spokespeople during the Iraq war claimed that anyone who opposed “coalition” (ie US) policy on the war was anti-American or even anti-democratic. Some British ministers were principled enough to resign because they thought the cure adopted by the irresponsible US rogue government was worse than the problem. Much of the world looking to the west for a lead against terrorism saw the US and the UK as the terrorists! Governments sympathetic to the need for global security were seen by their constituents as supporting US and UK terrorism. Individuals in the third, particularly Moslem, world were turned to terrorism, seeing it as the only answer to state endorsed terror. It is refreshing to see a politician acting on principle and not on greed or graft. Let us hope Obama”s promise is not destroyed by the system in the US
A pompous and irate US spokesperson publicly boasted about US democracy, and berated the British for allowing people to criticize the Bush administration’s warmongering policy. Top Americans obviously do not understand what democracy is. Democracy does not only allow disagreement, it approves of it. Too many US Congressmen do not understand it, and few had the courage to stand against the mendacious and hypocritical Bush. Congressmen and US Supreme Court Judges should remember that in democracies Presidents are elected by an ungerrymandered majority vote. They can post a clear reminder by punishing the former President as a war criminal, and some of his aides too. Those who think they have been fooled ought to vent their anger by demanding justice. Punish the warmongers.

Send them to local newspapers too. Pester local and national representatives, MPs, Governors, Senators, PMs, Presidents, anyone important, with as many as you need to get attention. Let them know the killing—and destruction of our own hard won democracy in the name of the “war on terrorism&rdquo—were not in our names!
