Abstract

Though women have been starved of creative opportunities over the centuries of patriarchal bullying, they have proved in one important field that they are not creatively inferior to men—in writing. Adelphiasophists are keen that all people should be creative and that their efforts should be appreciated. If you have been intending to start that novel or screenplay but felt short of ideas, here is the Wise Women's synopsis of plot to give you a few ideas. May the Goddess inspire you. Saviour Shirlie.

Wise Women Discuss—Plot!

The 36 Tragic Situations

Though women have been starved of creative opportunities over the centuries of patriarchal bullying, they have proved in one important field that they are not creatively inferior to men—in writing. Adelphiasophists are keen that all people should be creative and that their efforts should be appreciated. If you have been intending to start that novel or screenplay but felt short of ideas, here is the Wise Women's synopsis of plot to give you a few ideas. Lightly edited from Polti's original, with Fantasy added as a genre. May the Goddess inspire you. Saviour Shirlie.

Before you go, think about this…

Lee Moller gives these criteria for distinguishing a pseudoscience from a proper science:
  1. Is it showing progress?
  2. Do proponents use jargon such as “vibration” or “energy” without defining it?
  3. Does it depend on established physical laws being abandoned?
  4. Do accounts of it lack references?
  5. Is the evidence anecdotal?
  6. Do proponents claim irreproachable but unconfirmable experiments prove it?
  7. Have other researchers independently repeated the experiments and verified them?
  8. Do proponents claim to be overly or unfairly criticized?
  9. Is it taught only in non-credit institutions?
  10. Are the best texts on it old?
  11. Do proponents use statements that are a largely or wholly true but unrelated to the claim?
  12. Do proponents, when criticized, attack the critic rather than the criticism?
  13. Do proponents appeal to history—accounts of it go back centuries, there must be something in it?
  14. Does it only happen sometimes, and hardly ever when it is scrutinized?
  15. Do proponents appeal to ignorance—no one can prove otherwise, can they?
  16. Do proponents vaunt credentials that are irrelevant to the claim?

Who is God? Paul or Christ?

Give or take a few, it’s been 23771 months since the first coming of Christ ended. The Rapture can’t be long now… Can it?

The Wisdom of Carl
In 1990-91, Saddam Hussein, the autocrat of Iraq, made a sudden transition in the American consciousness from an obscure ally — granted commodities, high technology, weaponry, and even satellite intelligence data — to a slavering monster menacing the world. I am not myself an admirer of Mr Hussein, but it was striking how quickly he could be brought from someone almost no American had heard of into the incarnation of evil. These days the apparatus for generating indignation is busy elsewhere. How confident are we that the power to drive and determine public opinion will always reside in responsible hands?
Carl Sagan, The Demon Haunted World (1996)
