Before you go, think about this…

Pseudo means fake, and the surest way to spot a fake is to know as much as possible about the real thing, in this case science itself. Knowing science does not mean simply knowing scientific facts like the distance from earth to sun, the age of the earth, the distinction between mammal and reptile. It means knowing about science itself—scientific method, criteria of evidence, designing meaningful experiments, weighing up possibilities, testing hypotheses, arriving at theories, drawing accurate, reliable, meaningful conclusions about life and natural phenomena. Media hacks are mainly ignorant of science and proud of it. They offer continuous nonsense, misinformation, religion, fantasy, astrology and confusion, all equally true facts to feature writers. Sifting sense from nonsense is hard unless you understand science. (Distinguishing Science and Pseudoscience, csj.org)
