Impeach Blair Letter:

God judges those who presume to judge for him. The Bush and Blair Christian Fundamentalist gaggle in power in the West set themselves up as God. Not just Moslems but the whole world had to watch out. These crazies thought they could bring Jesus by initiating a world conflagration. People of good sense must bring them to trial for murder.

Bush and Blair conspired in and executed an unprovoked war of aggression against a defenceless country, Iraq, of a kind the Nuremberg judges in 1946 described as the “paramount war crime”. This has caused, according to several careful studies, the deaths of more than a million people, more deaths than occurred in the Rwandan genocide.

Some of us supported “our boys” in Iraq so much that we demanded they be allowed to return home immediately, while they were sound in mind and body, and before they had made orphans out of more poor Arab children. If Christianity is about making widows and orphans, no wonder it is waning. We said, “Cease this Devilish murder”. Now Obama is doing it, he should announce a doctrine that will forbid US governments from committing the same crimes again. The call among peace loving and democratic people now is to punish the crypto-Nazis and strengthen the democratic process so that the same disaster cannot happen again.

Protest

Send them to local newspapers too. Pester local and national representatives, MPs, Governors, Senators, PMs, Presidents, anyone important, with as many as you need to get attention. Let them know the killing—and destruction of our own hard won democracy in the name of the “war on terrorism&rdquo—were not in our names! Before you go, think about this…

In 1790, Washington assured the Jews of Rhode Island:

the government of the United States… gives to bigotry no sanction, to persecution no assistance… Everyone shall sit in safety under his own vine and fig tree, and there shall be none to make him afraid.

In the 1790s, at the end of his terms, Washington settled the Treaty of Tripoli, in Article 11 of which is a clause that the parties will not disagree over religion as “the government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion”. Later Andrew Jackson refused to form a Christian party, and Abraham Lincoln refused a Christian amendment to the Constitution. Teddy Roosevelt defended W H Taft from attacks by supporters of William Jennings Bryan, for being a Unitarian.
