Abstract

Ken Harding on “Why I am Unconvinced there is a God”. I am unconvinced there is a God. The invisible and the nonexistent look too much alike. I have no choice. I cannot accept that such an entity is possible. I am unconvinced, and all the threats of eternal damnation cannot convince me.

I am unconvinced there is a God:

I am unconvinced, and all the threats of eternal damnation cannot convince me.

I’m like Doubting Thomas… I’ll believe when I put my hand in Christ’s side… until then, no.

When someone can tell me the following, then it would at least be possible to accept the existence of a god:

When someone can provide convincing answers, then I could believe. Until then, my mind will not let me believe. I have no choice. I cannot accept that such an entity is possible.

The invisible and the nonexistent look very much alike. When you come to realize why you do not believe in Zeus, you will understand why I do not believe in your god.

Before you go, think about this…

Jesus forbids oaths, yet Leviticus 19:12 implies it was common to swear them, though they have not to be false (cf Mt 5:33-37). It is another of Jesus’s commandments that Christians, those holy Joes who name themselves after Christ, ignore utterly, and today the most Christian country has people swearing oaths daily in courts of law. Despite Christ’s injunctions, no one ever trusted a Christian to tell the truth, and so oaths were necessary to remind them they were supposed to do so.
